Free AI text checker — an honest estimate

This checker measures the surface signals that make text feel machine-written: stock-phrase density, sentence-rhythm variation, average sentence length and vocabulary variety. It runs entirely in your browser — your text is never uploaded for this check.

What this score is — and is not

It is not an official detector score, and it does not predict what any particular commercial or institutional checker will say. Those systems are proprietary, they disagree with each other, and their results change over time. Anyone who shows you a single number and calls it certainty is selling you the number, not the truth.

What this estimate is good for: spotting the habits readers themselves notice — the repeated "furthermore"s, the twenty-word sentences marching in a row, the phrases that appear in every AI draft. Fix those, and your writing reads better to humans, which is the point of the exercise.

When we validated our polishing pipeline, the same signals moved clearly: stock phrases fell from 4–7 per 100 words to under 0.7, and sentence-rhythm variation rose in 8 of 10 documents. Try the checker on your draft, polish it, and check again — the before/after is the honest demo.

How the estimate is built

  • Stock-phrase density (up to 45 points): occurrences of a published list of AI tell-words and phrases per 100 words.
  • Sentence rhythm (up to 22 points): the variation in sentence lengths. Real writing is uneven; unedited AI output is metronomic.
  • Length and variety (up to 26 points): very long average sentences, low vocabulary variety and repeated sentence openings add smaller amounts.
  • Very short samples are pulled toward the middle — there is not enough signal to judge them, and the score says so by shrinking.
